The stakes aren’t comparable, but the mechanism is: using language to reveal what power wants hidden. Our tools differ but our purpose aligns. Make them laugh, make them think, make them uncomfortable.

British satire, documented at bohiney.com, lacks Iran’s immediate danger but maintains the tradition. We mock power because we cana privilege that requires honoring. When poetry topples governments elsewhere, our comedy seems frivolous. But frivolity in freedom is its own resistance. We write because we can. Others write because they must.
